Priorities for the Steering Group:

  • Refine wording of original open letter to form a draft statement of purpose for the group guided by three principles

  • that the AAAA is part of the wider People's Assembly and ascribes to its aims

  • that the AAAA brings a unique contribution to this movement

  • that ours is a particular position in defense of the arts, culture and heritage sectors

Action: The AAAA will assemble at 10am on 18 October at Embankment to support the TUC demo

Action: Season Butler to establish an online platform to post meeting minutes and group communication, and to look into the online resources already available through Nation Builder - the software platform used by the People's Assembly - as a matter of priority.

We will need an outward-facing online presence as well as a place to post AAAA activities and anti-austerity artistic events.

Second Meeting - 5th November 2014

[Artists Union England to send a representative to next meeting]

The wording of the principles of the open letter have been changed to provide a clearer and more accessible statement of purpose:

  1. That the AAAA is part of the wider Peoples Assembly and ascribe to their aims.

  2. That artists bring a unique contribution to the anti-austerity movement.

  3. That ours is a particular position to protect and support the arts, culture and heritage sectors.

More specific aims and targets will be established in later discussion, such as reinstatement of arts funding to pre-2010 levelsm adjusted for inflation.

  • The style of AAAA public image and logo has been agreed upon.

    • Variations of the logo will be created and shared for different uses. [complete]

    • A creative commons license will be established for the logo.

    • The general style of all public material will be kept simplistic and in black and white.

    • Further discussion regarding use of artwork will be planned.

  • An online presence will be established through a website and social media.
AAAA has accounts with Twitter and Tumblr and a Facebook page for social networking.
Jon at Peoples Assembly will be contacted regarding website space, costs, and pros/cons of Nation Builder. Wix website will remain open for the time being.
Options of using YouTube and/or Vimeo to showcase media will be investigated.
